Pot Still Rum

First smell whispers to me... Hampden high ester and the second... Demerara Versailles still. The esters reminds me of Jamaica DOK and are very present but lovely. I wouldn't know it's JNY if it were a bild tasting. I would gues it's a Hampden. Crazy stuff.
Glue, nail polish remover, red berries, pineapple, citrus are very dominant in the nose. In the background are some floral notes, that I never had in Hampden. The nose is very complex, there is so much more. Just read my notes below. Incredible nose, very rich, very bright, very strong.
The taste is almost same, very bright and yellow, like a sunny summer day.
With a lot of Hampden apples, pineapple, citrus, esters. The alcohol is quite strong, but I like it. This pushs the flavors on the high end level. There are always sweet and sour notes, the glue holds everything together. The finish is very long and spicy. It unveils incredible fruityness.
Very intensive and again very complex taste.
This stuff is for experienced conaisseurs, if you are new to rum stay away from it.
I think Hampden found his master. This rum is better than Hampden. Would rate it 89 points.

Today I got the second edition of this beauty. So let's do a cross tasting :)
I can't tell many differences in the nose. They are almost same, in a blind tasting I would think this is the same rum. The second edition has more pine needles and is more grasy with lime. It's like you are smelling gin tonic. I must say I just opened the bottle, the second edition could not loose the easily soluble elements yet. The first edition is more creamy in the nose.

Taste: The new edition is a little bit sweeter, rounder and more creamy (surprise). You get the same flavors but the start is not that sour and it's more mellow overall. Wow, the second edition is even better.
I would give the second version 91 points. Maybe it's not fair because the nose was a little bit behind. but the taste convinced me.

I got the second edition for a retail price of 44€. This is very very cheap for such a rum.
Value: ++5/5 (buy as much as you can get)
