Admiral Rodney 2006 Officier’s Releases No1 Port Cask Finish 13-Year

Some of my whisky friend couldn't recognize this as a rum but really, really liked it.
The port cask finish gives this so much flavor.

Aroma is nice, warm and complex. Taste is perfect mix of fruit, wood, sweetness and bit burning (bit higher level of alcohol is also helping highlight the taste). Aftertaste is long with many new and new fruit and spicy on palate.

Recently I had chance buy this bottle with no much expectation from this brand. It was good choice try something new. Very nice port and oak. Balanced and wit chocolate and coffee hints. Not too sweet like some and nice to sip over whole evening. Goes great with tabaco. Do not forget Let it breath for 10-30mins.

This is a 9.9. Really awesome sipper. Rich sultana and fruit with hints of chocolate and Kona coffee. Smooth oak and fabulous port wine throughout. Deep and complex. Balanced to literal perfection. Coates the pallet. Almonds and a hint of spice rise at the finish. Smooth as a widow’s kiss. The finish is long smooth and soulful. Great on ice or neat, although more fruit notes appear neat. Absolutely top shelf in every way.

Nice medium brown color what I tend to gravitate too. Nice bottle and presentation very smooth scent note the port finish immediately. On the tongue very smooth nice mellow port finish slight coconut taste mixed in, not too sweet and very smooth for 45%. Overall this is a very smooth sipper with a port taste, not massive depth but a very good after dinner rum would pair well with a Cuban or Nicaraguan cigar.

This rum is nice example of succesful marriage of rum and port.
Mahagony colour,intense taste of honyed fruits,spicy vanilla and oak.
Finish is a bit on dry side but not so much therefore people with sweet tooth like me can enjoy it.

Pulling the cork from the bottle I was immediately hit by caramel, strong caramel (which was unexpected). Into a glass it's a stunning colour, and the nose is stewed stone-fruit (a less sweet jam almost). Not heavy on the palate, but has a little burn with the 45% (nothing compared to the cask strength bottles you'll find, but it doesn't lack the alcohol kick).
Flavour-wise it is very pleasant, you get the tobacco and raisin you'd expect with a port finish, and a decent length to it but I didn't get any honey or sweetness others have mentioned while reviewing.
Overall, the bottle itself is beautiful, and I think with a bit of time to breathe this rum will really come into its own. As it is, without giving it much time to air, it's still a very nice port finish rum.

Officer's Release No.1 je výběr ze sudů destilovaných v roce 2006. Tyto rumy zrály 13 let v sudech z amerického bílého dubu po bourbonu. Následně probíhalo ještě dostařování 9 měsíců v sudech po portkém víně.

Aroma: Krásně hebká, sametová vůně - pomeranče, kokos, leštěnka na nábytek, vanilka a samozřejmě portské.
Chuť: Sladká, lehce kořenitá, sirupová. Opět závan pomerančů.
Dozvuk: Závan dřeva, stopa čokolády a skořice, pak už jen trpkost portského. Střední.
Sladkost: 1/3
Ochutnán vzorek
Společně s HMS Formidable asi to nejlepší, co zatím může značka Admiral Rodney nabídnout. Vůně i chuť bez chyby, dozvuk lehce jednodušší, sladkost decentní. Pochutnal jsem si.
