Nothing to complain, my favorite. In this price range, in my opinion the best. Basta

This Rum is so beautifully balanced in alcohol, body and natural sweetness with perfect notes of wood, and slight notes of chocolate and plums. A lovely piece of distilling work, satisfying the sipping afficionado with a taste for balanced, mild spirits.
A very pleasant sipping experience. Relaxing, soft. Beautiful work.

I liked the richness of flavours, really nice and the colour was great, lookd good with ice cube in it hah! Price also is really good compared to the quality and availebility we have in finland so, one of my fauvorites for sure!

Beautiful, rich body. A warm and sweet rum. Perfect for whisky and Bourbon lovers

Bottle: I like its shape 1/1
Colour: Dark amber
Aroma: Very rich. A lot of vanilla and chocolate with some coconut. 2/2
Taste: It is not very sweet, just like dark chocolate should be. Chocolate flavour is the most distinguishable there, maybe with some nuts. If I take into account aroma, taste and aftertaste it is really complex rum and I wouldn't guess it was just 5 years in cask. 4/5
Aftertaste: Smooth, sweet and little bit woody but pleasent 2/2
Generally it is the best regular sipping rum I have tasted (the best of the best for me is Plantation XO 20th Anniversary) and I always have bottle of this one in my cabinet, or rather two.

One of the latest addition in the Plantation portfolio, the updated version is actually a blend of rums from neighbouring Guatemala and Belize. Guatemala at least produces their rums using fermented sugar cane honey (evaporated sugar cane juice) instead of the traditional molasses. Guatemala also uses a mix of bourbon and sherry cask for aging in their own solera system. This makes it quite difficult to put an age statement on the label, and was confirmed by the Ferrand/ Plantation brand ambassador at a tasting event last November.
I went through a bottle of Gran Anejo with some of my friends last summer paring it with some nice cuban cigars. Montecristo no2 to be precise. Honestly the cigar was a bit overpowering, and maybe a lighter Hoyo de Monterrey would be a better match. Even then, the rum was delicious, with some dark chocolate aromas and flavours, and a distinctive licorice finish.
I bought another bottle :)

Great straight up as an after dinner drink with a fine cigar. The price is a great value for such an enjoyable rum.

Be cool,
jt

Some of the best rums I've tasted are elaborated by cognac Ferrand's Plantation. Another hit. I simply love this one. Is It the double aging process ?
Probably. It is not the most expensive or aged, but It is great. I must point that the bottle I have says that It is a mix of rums from Guatemala and Belize, wich I'm not sure this rating applies to the same rum.
Subtle, sweet just enough, beautiful color, perfect nose, I love It.

En af de beste rom jeg kender til prisen. Go at nyde med ikke rom kender.
