On my weekend trip to Florida to get some rums not available where I live, I saw this one from Costa Rica with "12 Secrets" in bold letters on the label. Having never heard of it and respecting most of the rums from Ron Centenario, I plunked down my $32 for a bottle.

I read the other reviews on here when I got home, only to find out that is classified as "spiced". Well, being classified as "flavored" would be more accurate. It is sweet, but has a bitter finish. After checking the other rums that I bought and rated from this distiller, this one is nowhere near as good as their 18-year and 9-year dry rums. However, I have it rated and ranked better than their regular 12-year, as well as their 20-year sugar bomb.

For those that want something better than their 12-year and 20-year rums without breaking the bank, this one is highly recommended. For me, I don't need any more flavored rums.

Update only 2 days later: This has to be the worst Cenrtenario that I have ever tried. It was so disgustingly sweet that most of it went down the toilet only 2 days later. I did not even offer what was left in the bottle to my neighbor who would drink anything. I tried about 3 ounces at the most and this was after tasting a good dry rum. I am left with no choice except to lower my rating from a 7 to a 5.

On the nose, nuts, wafers, furniture polish, the taste starts sweet, with nuts, turns into bitter spicy ending, with a peppery, boozy aftertaste. Not the profile I adore, but not too bad for the price either. I remember I tasted a very similar taste profile with lots of addded sugar - it was The Pearl Of Mauritius Ultra Premium for twice the price.

Finom, kiegyensúlyozott ízvilág, kicsit lágy, pici mézes mazsolás lecsengéssel.

Intense almond aroma and taste. Artificial. Colored with caramel. Without emotions.

This isn’t as good as the 20 or 25 year, but for the price it is fantastic. Super smooth, and easy to sip but very flavorful. Definitely will purchase another bottle.

Good little Tico rum from Pura Vido land. Sweet and spicy notes all the way to the finish. Not bad at all. Add a splash of coke to bring out the sweetness. Cheers!

Prvé Centenario som skúšal 7-ročné, to ma vôbec nenadchlo.

Little bit sharp, woody notes, dry finish, quite ok

Bottle purchased at Total Wine. Pours a deep gold color. Wonderful sweet aroma of honey and pears. I love the flavor- floral nectar, brown sugar, maple. Buttery, yet drying finish with an ending signature of black pepper.
