Tasty, but not quite great
I really like this rum. As of this review, I'd call it my 2nd favorite spiced rum (after the Koloa Spice, which is my all time favorite spiced rum).
Has a somewhat sweet taste, that's heavy on licorice and herbs.
Smells and tastes of licorice, herbs, vanilla, ginger, and tea. I really like it!
This was a nice surprise for something calling itself a spiced rum. Not much at all in the nose. There is a herb quality to the flavor profile and very little on what I would call the spice flavor notes. I am sipping this and will definitely try it as a mixer.
Got this rum from my brother in law, and he knows his rums! One of the best rums I have tasted in a long time, the aroma is complex with hints of green tea and vanilla. I have tried it neat and on the rocks, it can hold it own.
Go to for a delicious dark and stormy. The citrus really comes through on this one and makes it an excellent choice for citrus based cocktails!
Not much else to do with it so if you don't like citrus steer clear.
On three separate occasions to enjoy this rum and I couldn't.
As the old folks say, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
This is one of the most unique proper rums I've had that is not over the top. The bottle mentions grassy notes and I definitely agree. It has a unique flavor with a hard to place aftertaste, and a fruitcake and tannin aroma. It's a dark colored rum which mixes very well to give a great spin on many cocktails. It can be had neat, though I wouldn't drink it that way myself too often. Of note, the bottle is not great at all: difficult to pour from an difficult to unstopper.
