A wierd middle taste which is unusual for a rum as it's usually the burn at start or the end ... It is a high quality mixer rum that I had on the rocks first then mixed it and it was pure genius ... Lovely balance unique in its own way
Santiago de Cuba Anejo, really good choise, this is good quality for that money.
Very smooth taste, nice color. Good with ice or stright up.
It smells like green foliage in the heat, black pepper and sugar cane. After trying quite I noticed that the taste is not impressed - roundness, bitterness, sweetness (vanilla, caramel, bitter).
Souffle is perfect as a snack.
Deosebit, fin cu aftertaste plăcut chiar dacă are doar 38%
This is one of the cheapest rums around but at double the price would still be great value. Smooth with a rich honey colour and hints of tropical fruit flavours and tobacco. This is wasted with mixers. I like it with just ice, soda or plain water.
Excellent my first Cuban rum, brought all the way back from cuba by friends.
So based on the higher ratings on here i went for the much cheaper Anejo. Smelt like a weak nail polish remover , hints of honey and caramel but nothing too pleasant. Tasted better than i thought it would , dry , quite sweet but had a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste.. But as i bought it as a mixer i hoped it would improve with a quality Fever Tree cola... it didn't ! Even my daughter remarked that this wasn't up to my normal "standard" rums.. So wont be buying again and will probably give the 12 yr a wide berth !
Nice , smooth tasting rum for a really good price.
.
Sweet smelling, an almost red wine like note.
"Finish whilst reasonably long is very one dimensional, oaky and bitter."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Young, Light, Yet Solid Cuban

Well, Cuban rum is not just cheaper members of the Havana Club lineup - up to 7y, all with pronounced tobacco and wood. This is quite different style, and after an initial "shock and awe" period, I discovered a very smooth (for its age and price) and tasty rum here. The nose is quite unusual for rum, it reminds me of aged French calvados, contains chocolate, cocoa, a hint of oak, the taste is spicy yet smooth, pretty straightforward, light, with a hint of vanilla and chocolate, maybe some tobacco, the finish is mild spices, with oaky Calvados, medium long, ending with a red wine dryness. It shares some similarity with Conde de Cuba 5y or 7y, but it is more crispy, spicy, well defined and quite a lot cheaper. It shares also some traits with Cubay Anejo, which is good news - Cubay Anejo is an embodiment of excellent Cuban rum for a reasonable price. I can sip it, it makes neat rum and coke, and for its price, some 20% more than Captain Morgan - it is just perfect. No sugar detected.
