Visited the Montebello Distillery in Guadeloupe and bought a bottle of Montebello Single Cask from the distillery. Nice looking and high end bottle and label design. Golden color. Typical Rhum Agricole flavors alongside grass, fruits, vanilla and oak followed by a bit of a burn from the alcohol. Rhum Agricole fans can easily add 2 points to my score.
Got 5cl of this as a gift when I bought me the the 10 year old and some other bottles. I must say it’s surprisingly smooth for an Agricole.
The nose is fruity, spicy and you can feel some oak and vanilla. In mouth it’s about the same but maybe a little more fruity.
I tested it together with the the 10 year old which is not a bad Agricole, but this one is better. Which it of course should be, the price is almost the double.
Beautiful light gold color, this rum releases woody and vanilla notes with also dried fruits like prune. There are also beautiful notes of spices. On the palate, the exotic fruits take over. Not very complex and not very long, the final is soft on honeyed notes. Nice rum.
