Papas Pilar Blonde 7-Year

Wow! This has body. Great mouth feel. How many times have you said that about blonde rum? Smooth banana, vanilla, oak and almond with yogurt notes faintly behind. Balanced. Alcohol is present. Not sweet. It would get a 9 if the finish was slightly longer. Great stuff. My new favorite blonde rum no question. The price is just crazy for a rum this good.

Aroma: Roasted vanilla. I don't know if that's a thing but here we are.
Flavor: toned down version but does match the aroma. This is a delicious rum.

On the nose and palate, I get vanilla and some sweetness. On the palate, I also got a bit of pear. Solid body and mouthfeel. I made a Beachbum and a Missionary's Downfall with it when they called for a Cuban-style rum and I thought it worked great in both.

My wife's Favourite... Butterscotch is the first thing I smell with a light citrus undertone, Tasting is light and and smooth... My wife loves it over ice with a splash of Diet coke

I've enjoyed the 2 Pilar dark rums for a few years now and they are definitely my favorite sippers. In the RumRatings I have read that this too is a sipper for some, so I picked up a bottle and was quite surprised for a blonde rum how good it was. I always thought that the only good sipping rum had to be dark, I was wrong. The first thing that came to my nose was how floral it was. It goes down very nicely. Lots of vanilla, but I like that. Soon I will have a full cabinet of these fine rums that I enjoy so much with my cigars.
