One of my favourite white rums together with Neisson and Dillon. Makes excellent coctails and ti punches. HSE profile is of course not so broad and fruity like Neisson’s, but it still has all the grassy funk tones that a good agricole should have.

Excellent value and pretty easy to get. I make sure I always have a spare bottle at home. Superb in home-made framboise mojitos!

55% is also worth trying and offers same quality.

Visited the Habitation Saint-Etienne (HSE) Distillery while vacationing in Martinique. Spectacular unlimited full open tasting bar. Distillery is in a different location than the tasting bar. HSE 2016 Blanc was EUR 25 at the tasting bar. Very nice and sturdy bottle with a splendid label design. Traditional high end Rhum Agricole like grass and floral notes to the nose and palate. Quite a strong burn at the end being so dry. Rhum Agricole lovers can easily add 2 points to my score.

As others have noted, it’s best mixed and fine for a ti’punch along the lines of lower proof Bologne, Severin, Clement, etc. … at the US imported price point, it’s a great value and makes it easy to craft an excellent cocktail without investing in a lot of potentially bad rums. And yes, I’ll sip it straight on occasion just to get that cane juice flavor.

Clearly not meant to be consumed alone, it still tastes fresh, and I actually quite enjoy it as a sipper. As a mixer, this is just crazy good, and gives you a solid base no matter what you are mixing, be it Mohito, Piña Colada or Ti Punch. Perhaps very slight adjustment of he alcohol taste would make this a "10" but heck, manly drink needs some %.

Un rhum blanc avec un bonne touche végétal, parfait pour les rhum arrangés
