Kirk and Sweeney XO

This is a GREAT rum; especially if you like the Kirk and Sweeney's as I do, but this one tops them all!

This has the classic Kirk and Sweeney flavor, with a nice sweetness, vanilla, sugarcane, caramel, toffee, oak, and sherry, but more sophisticated and smooth with 25 years of aging and at cask strength (65.5%).

A GREAT rum that's worth the money in my opinion!

Very sweet and hot. A one note vanilla extract kind of taste. Hard to believe 26 years of aging offers so little depth and oak. Really disappointing.

This is so smooth 65%? Feel nothing its again so smooth but I m forgetting that I drinking rum. It's like a ox, a bull without....
No testosterone.

I bought this rum for my son for his birthday at $200. I’ve tried other Kirk and Sweeney runs and they were top notch so I figured this one would be better. Very disappointed as it has such a strong alcohol taste and when we looked it up, found it was 65%.
Burns a lot going down and not a great flavor. If you’re going to spend that much buy a Rum Malecon 1979 or 1985 or a Facunda Exquisito, less money and fantastic taste.

Equipment: Very nice bottle, and the details are perfect

Nose: Very strong alcohol scent, and some dried fruit

Taste: Very intense taste with some smoke, dried fruit and vanilla, but then again a sweet taste

Aftertaste: a very long aftertaste with alot of sweetnes and vanilla, but still a burning sensation.

We are 3 persons tasting this rum, and we all agree this is well made rum, but way to strong
We have a score of 78 of 100
The price is to high, and we will not have another bottle of this rum

A beautiful rum, this is a potent rum. And beautiful.
I suggest adding a small ice cube to let the beauty bloom.
This is a lovely lovely rum.

Classic Dominican rum (not a fan so add +3 if you’re into brugal). Too much burn and i like hamilton and worthy parks, rancid taste that makes it borderline undrinkable. Box is amazing though A+ on packaging rum meh

Edition 3 (2020). Sampled at the Laka Lono Rum Club tasting on 8/9/22. Bourbon barrel aged. The aroma seems under expressed, but wow, at 131 proof, this is like a mead on steroids. Tangerines. With a few drops of water, this opens up and the aroma explodes. Sure this is great, but is it $250 a bottle great?

Right from the start the presentation is one of the finest, complete with a decanter style glass stopper and engraved bottle. Big start to live up to, then it’s cask strength at 65.5% wow what is this awesome rum going to taste like? Surprisingly the nose has little or no alcohol burn, color is deep gold to medium brown in the bottle. Same color in the glass, bit more alcohol on the nose in the glass, first sip warm layers developing on there own in a good way. Feel no need for any water drops, I can’t nail it down exactly but some kind of island spice bread that leaves me wanting another slice.

Received this as a gift and I immediately hid from any potential intruders! It's an amazing rum! If you like the regular Kirk and Sweeny this is just exactly that, except it's Richer... Stronger... And just down right Delicious! But be careful...its very strong.
