Great Northern's schtick is that they make all of their liquor with local ingredients of the Upper Midwest, which normally leaves out sugar cane and molasses. But due to some mishap with a sugar delivery truck, they took the "opportunity" to create some rum (and kept making it), hence the name. It's a decent rum, with hints of coconut and vanilla. It's not aged at all but has a decent amount of character despite that.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

The most succinct yet accurate description I can give is this… “Ever drink Bacardi Gold? That’s what this tastes like.” Yeah, mix it with Coke, it will be GREAT for that. It’s not “bad”, it’s just not something complex or seasoned enough to drink neat.
