Many thanks to Joola69 for sharing a bottle as part of rare rum tasting.
This is a fairly decent decent rum.
Smells and tastes of molasses, with a hint of sugarcane as well. A bit sweet, with an odd hint of cologne. Not bad though; I think it's a good value.
Smooth finish but the flavors are not for me. I prefer more of a sweet finish.
I give this rum somewhat higher marks because of the price ($19) and the neutral flavor profile, which make it a great mixer. It is somewhat bland, but I am glad they decided to not add a bunch of junk to compensate. There are some grassy undertones which remind me a bit of rhum agricole. This is made from pure sugarcane, so that could be why.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I wrote a negative review of this brand before. I recant that 100% now. The founder tracked me down and reached out to me personally to ask if he could trace what batch that rum came from. That batch was indeed bad and HE SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE TO PERSONALLY REPLACE IT. And the stuff he gave me--from a diffferent batch--was indeed awesome like he said it would be. Very smooth and mellow and slightly sweeter from the real sugarcane (not molasses) used. Recently, some friends and I drank some alongside Santa Teresa and it held its ground even thought its more than 50% more affordable. Great on its own or in rum cocktails. If you're a rum lover, give it a try.
