Tasted at Laka Lono on 10/16/18. Horse blanket aroma. Just too strong at 142 proof. Grassy straw aroma. Musky funk. Mouth numbing. Tissue fixing. Harsh. Maybe a good float, but needs dilution.

This is a single cask release, weighing in at a hefty 71.5%ABV. I understand it to be Versailles still distillate, presumably continentally aged. The nose and palate have what I think of as typical Guyana pot still character, though with more molasses than others I’ve had. The rum is quite sweet, and I wonder if it might have some dosage. It drinks well below proof. Some reviewers that I respect have given this rum high marks - for me it is interesting as a single still release, and quite good, but probably not something I would buy again.
