Tire fort vers un whisky. Ne fait pas partie de mes goûts préférés mais semble pas mal pour débuter la dégustation du rhum ou en transition

Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, this Mauritian gold rum from the Rhumerie de Chamarel is made from pure cane juice, using sugar cane grown in the fields surrounding the distillery. The quality of this cane, its careful selection and ensuring it reaches the mill as soon as possible after being hand picked each day are of the very highest priority to Chamarel. The reward for their diligence is a vibrant rum with a strong vanilla character. If you like Rhum Agricole, add 3 points. Otherwise its way too dry rum to be enjoyable.

N-am putut sa o beau, mirosea prea intepator. Am mai baut romuri agricole dar asta face parte din categoria nasoalelor.

Beaucoup moins boisé que le VO ou VSOP, son jeune âge (18 mois) lui apporte fraîcheur et fruité. Très agréable comme rhum de consommation courante.

Mauritian surprise. 6 out of 10
Posted 11 months ago by Graham Davie from United Kingdom with 57 ratings
Picked this up in Port Louis duty free as I had some money to get rid of. €20 very well spent.
It has a light caramel colour, no distinct nose, but as it’s only 18 months in the barrel, it’s surprisingly good.
Slight vanilla, wood and really does remind me of Plantation 5yo Barbados, but much drier.
There’s no hint of sweetness at all, and over ice it’s pretty good.
Mild burn that leaves a lingering taste, for the price, it’s excellent.
Enjoy, Graham.
