Nice burn and fruits, take this or the original and you are prepared for the next pain in life.
I like this rum too, but it is very different from the 40% ABV version Navy Rum and also from the 54% ABV Gunpowder Proof.
This is extremely strong, not meant to be sipped neat for sure. Seriously, don't try it. Or do not say that you have not been warned if you do anyway.
It is woody, astringent, much less sweet than the other Pusser's rums. Notes of spices (nutmeg, cardamom), some heat. A bit of gasoline. If I did not know any better, I would assume some Jamaican rum to be in the mix, as it is very dunder-ish. But that might be the Guyana part, they sometimes achieve something very close.
This fire water is meant for mixing. Or for sipping with a generous ammount (50% or so) of water. I like it for mixing, I like it in Painkiller cocktails. It is brilliant for that. As a sipper, I would still prefer it to many of the sweetened "premium" rums out there. But then preferably with a lot of water and - sacrilege, I know - some ice.
It goes very well mixed with ginger beer or ginger ale. I do personally not drin rum-cola, but I assume that it would also be great for that role, since it is sure to punch through any flavours you throw at it. If you like some flavour in your longdrink, this is a good choice.
The "standard" Navy Rum and the Gunpowder Proof are now all purely Guyana rum. This, on the other hand, is still a mix of Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Guyana rums. And it shows. I have an old bottle of the 42% ABV navy rum, which is similar, but much less potent (and much more sippable).
Intenzivna aroma aj chut. Ostrost 54% je citit. Karamel musi byt
even if it a overproof rum, it has taste. Anyway - you still do not have power to dring the whole bottle alone.
The smell is very spicy, the alcohol bites you in the nose.
It's sweet, I get burned sugar, caramel, molasses and some ripe banana, also other ripe fruits.
In the background is some earth and a musty demerara note. With dilution it turns more earthy.
The taste starts with sweetness and demerara notes. Added sugar I think.
I get burned sugar and molasses, it turns very spicy. Then some honey and bitter notes.
In the middle I get more of the burned sugar, molasses and some fruits like in Jamaica OFTD. But they are overlapped by the sweetness. Then some honey of demerara rum and the spice.
It's too sweet in my opinion. Also very spicy, but this is not the problem.
I would rate it with 67 points.

I like this aged rum a lot. Very smooth, no aftertaste and no burn. Highly recommend.
This was my rum in the 80s and Pussers changed the formula for the USA. I quit drinking the lower proof for years didn’t like it near as well, but started again the last few years. Unfortunately they did the same thing with the 15 last year. This was my first love rum.
Fruity smells with little “booze” in the nose.
"It’s rich fruity raisins all the way and is instantly recognisable as a Pusser’s Navy Rum."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
