Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Not bad, and while I prefer to sip my rhums, if I need some to mix, I choose this one, as it is not on par with other on the same price range. Not complex, not particularly pleasing.
Excellent in mixed drinks. Had lots in Dominican.
Expected more. Going to DR in 2 weeks waned to sample a local but this is thin not flavor I expected. Will try the better if I can
A little harsh on the nose with molasses and caramel. It's 37.5% abv...feels and taste that way. Initial taste, swift unwanted volatile compounds with an impact of caramel, citrus peel and oak, finishing in peppery oak spice. I think it would be helpful distilling it one more time before aging and bottle it at 40% abv. Besides that, average aged rum.
Perhaps they meant to type "BRUTAL" on the labels and just went with it. If I ever need to chlorophorm someone in a pinch, this might work if it doesn't kill them.
Rien de particulier dans cette bouteille. L'alcool prend vraiment le dessus sur un petit côté boisé pourtant pas désagréable. Bien en cocktail.
For a rum made for mixing this one us pretty boring. It doesnt bring anything else than the cheal alcohol taste. You're probably better off with another kind of rum
Theres nothing i like about this rum , i find it tasteless snd dry even with coke. Sorry i guess im not a fan of Brugal
Okay...I had to knock a few points off just for the aroma. Reminds me of paint thinner. Sorry, but it does.
Tasting it....one word....harsh...has a weird flavor to it that just seems...well...off...
Tastes as if the wood particles weren't filtered....
Supposed to be "extra old" but exhibits no such aging...
A little sweetness but has some noticeable bitterness that is displeasing...
Not...I repeat...NOT a sipping rum...
I don't know...maybe I got a bottle from a bad batch but I really cannot recommend this for anything but for mixers calling for harsh rum. Not my first, second, or third choice. There are much better rums for the price.
The extra Viejo is a big step up from the regular.
And there is even better yet with the 1888 or XV, "9's'" in my book.
Good taste, and mixes incredibly well. Alone the flavor isn't anything special but it makes one of the best Cuba Libres I've tasted
I hoped it would be an upgrade to Brugal Anejo and it does seem to have a thicker body and maybe more aging, but only in ex-boutbon barrels exclusively. It’s good but if you’re a regular Brugal drinker the finish feels sort of empty because there is no fruity wine barrel influence that is usually there in other Brugal offerings. Heavier and maybe more sugary than the Anejo, but lacking the full Brugal flavor found in their other better rums.
Not as sweet or deep as the upper echelon rums but overall very good. Beautiful dark color with with notes of vanilla and molasses.
absolut der beste rum zum mixen!!(cuba liebre i love you)!! preis leistung absolut super! pur geniesen nein danke!
It's not thé worst, of thé best. Just ok for it's price a
Cheap good for coctails, without depth, better than bacardi, captain morgan. But on the other hand for that price I think Jameson whiskey is better way to go...
Final verdict: Maybe some day I will giv it another shot
Seriously, did they catch these bottles swimming in an enchanted swimming hole in the DR? The ABV is weak for the style, and it tastes like candy water. They could do much better with a little more TLC with the product, instead of focusing so much on the brand.
Harsh with no depth. I don't have much to offer here. I don't have any ideas as to what they're doing wrong, just that is in fact wrong. Too many great options out there to settle for this.
The aroma and taste of this rum has no other flavor than alcohol. Definitely not for drinking straight or with water. Maybe ok for a mixer but I didn't even wish to try anymore of it.
Having had Brugal Anejo, Brugal XV and Brugal 1888, it was only a matter of time before I got my hands on a bottle of Brugal Extra Viejo. This version of the Brugal line sells for $35 CAD in my area and I would guess it is most likely used as a mixer. In spite of the low rating on this site (5.9 from 78 ratings) I thought I would give it a try as a sipper rum as it is known to be very dry, with no sugar added.
This rum is dry indeed and while not a premium rum, it is nevertheless acceptable neat but much better rums are available for a few extra dollars. Would I drink this again? Yes. Will I purchase another bottle? Not likely.
Very good, but a little too sweet f
there's much better options from there, even from Brugal, I have heard much better from the 1888 if you want to try that instead !
ok i'll give it this smooth but something that i couldn't put my finger on was not right about this rum
thin and medicinal like it had a funny after taste that to me was off putting
gladly it was not me who bought the bottle ,lol
i will not run out to buy this rum it can stay on the shelf , i would much rather drink the Anejo
