I'm no rum snob, I like what I like. On the rox with a squeeze of lime. Spicy with a hint of raspberry. Also refreshing served in a tall glass as a rum and tonic.
Friend says to me, "Hey, you like rum, try some of this." Well, I do indeed like rum, but this is not drinkable using any definition of rum. It smells like an infected wound, and it doesn't even taste as good as that. I can't imagine any situation where this would be an acceptable drink of choice. Gak.
I like Captain Morgan Tattoo. Unfortunately, it is no longer being produced from what I have found. Good spice with vanilla and cherry flavor. I prefer to mix with Dr. Pepper for an alternative to Capt. and cola. I also have mixed with Red Bull for a pick me up similar (but better) than a Jager bomb. I generally like some smoothness and sweetness with my rum that is why I like Tattoo. A bit harsh neat, but have mixed it with Cherry schnapps to add a little punch in a shot.
One of my favorite rums. It's getting hard to find now, which is a shame. This rum is dark, sweet, and a little spicy. It smells and tastes like flat Coke or Pepsi with sweet, fruity undertones. It blends flawlessly with the aforementioned sodas and also works great as a shot.
Not CM Black Spiced overproof - but not bad. Great as a mixer, not so much straight up or on the rocks.
Living it La Vida Luca in the trailer park before the super bowl.
One of the worst rums i have ever tried... thi iss one of these rums you give as a present.
It's like a mix of cough syrup and used motor oil. I'd pour it down the sink, but I doubt it's safe for septic systems, much less the surrounding vegetation. Whoever came up with this deserves to drown in it, or the vomit it's flavor induces.
Tastes a bit like NyQuil, not necessarily a bad thing. Enjoyed the bottle but haven't gone back for more.
no puedo creer qie esta marca que cuida celosamente los sabores no se preocupo por este un ron normal
I have a bottle that was given to me . will rate it when I open it.
This rum has a different taste to it. Of all my friends I'm the only one who will drink this if it's around, which is good because then I don't have to share. I most likely wouldn't buy this one again and would try something new instead.
So so when tried neat.. But over ice with coke it is Dr. Pepper with a kick. Not my first choice...or my second. Picked this up on a whim because my "liquid gold" 1671 is no longer available. What a shame.
If you enjoy Dr.Pepper, this is for you. It has all of the signature flavors, thick and syrupy. This is the worst of the Captain's line I have ever had. Of course, being fair I do not like Dr. Pepper. This shouldn't be called rum by any sort of the imagination. This is more of a cordial or liqueur under a banner of rum. No fooling us Capt!
Just another one for the collection. Found this very cheap in a danish store, so what not to like?
I give this to my friends who pretend to be straight up rum drinkers. It's not bad, ands it's a fun drink for parties where there are a variety of tastes.
This could have been a good commercial grade dark rum but it just doesn't have it.
It says rum on the bottle, but as been said it doesn't fit the mold. At first from a marketing point of view I Thought this was a competitive jab at Sailor Jerry but it wasn't. It reminds me of the children's cough syrup mom gave me as a kid with its heavy cherry like flavour or a stronger version of Disaronno. I don't think that's a bad thing. For what it is I say drink up and enjoy.
Update: Tried Tattoo with some Dr. Pepper and it was pretty good, I know where another bottle is, I am pretty tempted to go back and get it because when they are gone they are gone !
it does look a lot like tattoo ink, so the name is fitting. My review is pretty much the same as the others. It has a slight cherry or cola taste and goes down smooth. Not too bad to mix with cola.
Love this Captain, the flavors are amazing and makes great Rum Balls, Love to drink this with Ginger Ale or Dry Ginger. It is my all time fav.
I have only ever had this once, and it was mixed with coke. If your friends have it, and you have coke, drink it. As for stand alone, I cannot attest to how it would work out. If you can find it cheap, and want a social drink, this will do the trick.
