I was unable to get to my usual specialty store to pick up some Doorly's XO--my preferred general-purpose rum--and my supermarket only has a tiny rum selection (they don't even stock Plantation). I bought this not realizing it was spiced, as it doesn't clearly say that on the label. There's nothing wrong with a vanilla Coke--I'm old enough that I used to order flavored Cokes at drive-In burger joints in my teen years--but that's all this stuff is good for IMO, mixing with Coke. The vanilla and sweetness are pretty overpowering. It's smooth and sippable by itself but this is not really rum, it's a liqueur.
Price and taste make this a favorite. Smooth and sweet, it goes down easy and is just plain enjoyable. Great by itself.
The first glass was great, sweet, spicy and a hint of vanilla.
A fantastic buy, sipping is ok but I prefere a mixer with this.
Great value.
So had my reservations but other than having an artificial sweet taste itโs sippable, likely a high-end rum and coke no doubt but 9north still dominates as the best spiced rum Iโve tasted so far. Feels like a sweeter artificial diplomatico with a cocacola undertone.
Great as a mixer, surprisingly nice sipper, caramely with various spices.
It was one of my first rums and still one of my favourites. In my oppinion it is underrated somehow, but no problem, it is still expensive enough.
Coming from a journey of primarily ardbeg and other scotch, this was a very sweet, and fruity rum the is easy to sip and could be dangerous if you are not paying attention... I've gone through 3 bottles already...
Much better and smoother than the standard Captain Morgan
I received this as a Christmas gift. I'm not usually big on Spiced rums, but I found this rather enjoyable. It's not something that I would buy, but it works OK in a rum & Coke Zero.
Captain Morgan was actually a 17th century Welsh pirate...

It's like kraken if kraken didn't suck. Not a smooth sipper, thick oily and sweet but gets way too much heat. I don't care for it that much because of the excessive amounts of molasses/brown sugar with vanilla. It makes a distinct diet coke and rum but I think there are better options. Especially for it's price (25$)
