Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
Captain Morgan Private Stock rum is produced from molasses and aged for over 2 years in ex-bourbon barrels before being blended with spices.
The Captain Morgan brand was created in 1945 and named after the famous pirate and eventual governor of Jamaica Captain Henry Morgan. The rum's original home was Puerto Rico with it was distilled by Seralles, but is now St Croix.
It's like kraken if kraken didn't suck. Not a smooth sipper, thick oily and sweet but gets way too much heat. I don't care for it that much because of the excessive amounts of molasses/brown sugar with vanilla. It makes a distinct diet coke and rum but I think there are better options. Especially for it's price (25$)
the Captains private stock surprised me with it's cost and it's smooth flavoring. This would be a great bottle to have in the collection if you want something that is pleasant for when your buddies come over but don't want to crack open your top shelve bottles.
This has turned out to be one my go to sipping Rums.
Positivt överraskad av denna. Inte den bösta rmmen men går absolut att sippa på
Nice tasting if you like it sweet but after several in one sitting the sweetness becomes overpowering.
Captain Morgan Private Stock was my first sipping rum that I enjoyed. As it is very difficult to get where I stay, I drink the Private Stock only when I want to spoil myself.
One of the best I have thus far.
I wouldn’t call myself a rum expert, because I usually prefer my rum with coke or in a mojito or traditional style Mai Tai. I work at a liquor store so I’m always looking at trying different rums to find my favorite. A vendor gave this rum to me as a gift one time and being someone who has tried multiple spiced rums and disliked them I had low expectations for this rum. After trying it with coke though, I have yet to find one I prefer as much as this
This stuff is honestly amazing. Don't let the brand steer you away. You can obviously mix this and drink it on the rocks. It is sweeter, but it's delicious! If you like captain and coke, you'll love this, and won't want to go back to original spiced.
Let me paint this for you: Drinking "Captain Morgan Private Stock" might be like having a melted chocolate candy bar slowly poured from the pan over your tongue. so thick that it induces a feeling of suffocation by the thick, sugary goo slowly sliding down your throat. This "rum" is TOO thick, sweet and clingy. Echh. I bought one bottle, never again. CM has some good rums but this one is a rip-off and a real disappointment. Ugh, Just my opinion. Thanks. Never again.
My group of tasters were at an event I organized and to most of us this came as an unexpected surprise. Pleasant and good value.
A cut above the Captain's Original Spice. It still has a bit of sweetness, but someone with a sweet-tooth like mine could even make it a sipper in a pinch. Delicious in a pina colada.
A nice go to rum for a Cuba Libre. Too harsh for drinking neat, but serviceable with plenty of ice and lime wedge.
Meilleur que ses.petits freres mais ça reste une captain à cocktail
This is a great everyday rum. Throw it in the freezer and leave it until ready to drink. It’s very smooth and great spice flair to keep ya coming back for more.
A lot of sugar added, so it taste sweet as hell ! :) But it's a great introduction for people that aren't use to drink their rum straight ! It was my first straigth rum consumed. Thanks Captain !
Can a rum have too much of a good thing? I found this one to be overloaded with caramel and artificial vanilla with a stale alcohol aftertaste and a peppery bite.Needs to be cut with ice or water just to be drinkable.Would not buy again.
Spicy and vanilla, drinks easy. Love the caribbean vibes!
Prijemne koreneny piti za dobrou cenu. Na vecer s kamarady, nebo po tezkyn dnu by to byla dobra vilba. Charakternejsi zazitek jsem tu ale nenasel...
This may be the sweetest rum I have ever tried. Some pleasant flavors and drinkable but sweetness overpowers the drink. May be a good one if you are just starting to drink rum neat.
Don't get me wrong, Captain Morgan produces a lot of good products. I have tried, and rated a lot of their rum. This one however falls short of my expectations. Just OK.
You can do better, but you can also do much worse. Drinks smooth with minimal burn on ice. The price is right. A little sweet but it is a spiced rum. A good bottle to keep on hand at all times.
Not to be enjoyed as a sipper but a mixer given the choice I will have the black spiced over this rum but it does have a place in my collection.
Very smooth on the rocks, or in a mix. You will not be disappointed.
Easy to drink and by far the best captain you can purchase. Available everywhere liquors are sold.
