One of my favourites, tastes great with ice. Nice aroma, very smooth easy to drink. One of Captain Morgan’s finest spiced rums.
For being a Captain Morgan product, I was truly expecting just a tad bit higher quality then their regular captain morgan you'd fine at a casual bar. Needless to say I was pleasantly suprised. It was rather smooth and very flavorfull. Really easy to still pick up on their well known spice blend, but didn't have that previous purchase their other products have. The sweeter notes really kick in here and it's a pleasantly smooth experiance. Would for sure recommend getting this and I would think about getting it again in the future.
Encouraged by many positive comments, stating mostly that Private Stock is 'underrated', I decided to give it a go - unfortunately I must have missed what others see in this spirit, that makes it worth recommendation.
It is definitely different from other products of CM brand, in a positive way. You can smell and taste and actual rum, despite being spiced. However, it is build upon an overwhelming sweetness/vanilla; first sip was a pleasant surprise, however couple of sips later the whole experience turned into failure, when I realized I would not be able to try another glass. It's like you want to feel the rum itself, but vanilla keeps squeezing your stomach saying 'not this time, amigo'.
I don't think I will buy another bottle and definitely I do not recommend it to anyone.
Private Stock will obliterate everything you thought you knew about Captain Morgan.
This aged spiced rum carries notes of sweet molasses and dark chocolate complimented by a cinnamon clove-like spice finish. It has some heat as to be expected from a spiced/aged rum But nothing too unbearable. I would recommend large mold ice. Sipping neat gets a little too sweet with this one.
For the price it's a great introduction to the world of sipping rums.
Sweet, but tasty. Lots of brown sugar on the nose, and smooth.
This is a great mixing spiced rum and does ok on the rocks
Better than the classic but nothing too special about it.
Captain Morgan was actually a 17th century Welsh pirate...

Too sweet. Spices overwhelm and tastes artificial. Horrible aftertaste. I thought things would have improved since the horrific cheap Captain Morgan rum from my college days in the early to mid 80s...I was wrong...just expanded into other horribleness. If I had started with this rum when I got into rums earlier this year I might have rated it higher but I've sampled far superior rums than this so this is indeed barely drinkable and I would have to drown in Coke Zero in order to make it palatable. So I'm down to this: should I pour it down the sink into the septic tank (thereby inebriating the microorganisms in there) or push this off to some friends (thereby running the risk of making them EX-friends)....hmmm....
Choice is obvious...
PARTY IN THE SEPT TANK...MICROORGANISMS ABOUT TO GET TANKED!!!!
