Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massรณ purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

Simple enough. Great for mixing. No it's not fancy but it doesn't pretend to be

Ok - I've drank quite a bit of this over the years, mostly on cruises or resorts. It is cheap and after a few drinks it doesn't really matter any more.

...and rate the white, ubiquitous, highly commercial, insanely marketed Bacardi Superior for what it is: a mixing rum. By my knowledge it never pretended to be anything else than a party mixer. It is indeed to blame for the fact that most of the world thinks rum cannot be drunk straight, but that tide is changing. And mixing it does fairly well. Of course there are many rums that make better cuba libres and cocktails, but you could also do a lot worse. Try the generic ultra-budget-bottle just labeled 'white rum' on the low low shelf of your supermarket. That's the really nasty stuff.

That's what it's constructed for, after all. No shame in that. After enduring several of these cocktails at a resort using their well rum, I had much better results requesting them made with the Bacardi.

Reading some of the reviews of this rum is akin to watching a elementary school kid get beat up by the entire high school football team. Is it a well-aged solera or single barrel best sipped neat from a glencarin? Of course not. Does it make a drinkable rum and coke which all of us have ordered at a bar and was probably responsible for some great nights/times with friends? Absolutely. Just pad your ratings and move on and quit taking yourselves so seriously; It's Bacardi Silver.

Bacardi is a good rum. Far from being great. Way over priced for what you get. I think most people order it because it is the only rum they know.

It's a mixer's rum. plain and simple. Stuff flowed like water in Florida

Ubiquitous Light Rum, in the UK up until recently most people just thought Rum was Bacardi and vice versa, people didn't ask for Rum and Coke, they just asked for Bacardi and Coke i guess that many people can't all be wrong can they?

Good for a cheap white rum. Good value for what you are getting.
