Bacardi Superior rum

Bacardi Superior

United States | Light | 40% ABV

Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

Most of the awful reviews, I would wager, are from snobs. Which is fine, a bit of snobbery is definitely needed in any niche community. But I think sometimes, that snobbery can lead to hyperbole, especially when something extremely popular is the topic of discussion.

Is Bacardi a "good" rum? No. It's not very smooth, it doesn't have any unique flavor to it, and it won't impress your friends. But it's not a "bad" rum either. If I were in the mood for rum, and this was the only thing I could find, I certainly wouldn't pass it up. I wouldn't be ashamed of Bacardi the way that I have been some other rums.

I can't say I recommend it, hence the lack of a positive rating, but I can't say I'm against it, hence the lack of a negative rating. This is a generic, default rum.

I use this rum to put in daiquiris or cocktails. It's rum for mixing and it mixes well. It doesn't add an overpowering flavor so you can still taste the strawberry or what ever its mixed with.

This rum won't dissapoint, won't make you too happy, it is just average and okey. Sadly, being average actually might be good enough, especially given the price, and to be fair, I am fine with this in a cocktail or a basic mixed drink like rum and coke. I however totally preffer Havana Club for the mixing, even made two daiquiris each containing a different rum and just like the havana one more, and since the price is about the same, this just doesn't get too much attention from me.

The design of the bottle is elegantly unfinished. The aroma is very weak and it's not bad, because It smells of chlorinated water from the pool and alcohol. That taste is surprisingly complex: sweet, honey, enveloping, coniferous, white grapefruit, fresh herbs. Gradually, bitterness increases, without drinking or snacks - no way. The intoxication is linear, rapid, ruthless, warming, without a dope, without serious consequences. ..........

Not terrible in a daiquiri or a fruity cocktail.

I share this with my friends who don't particularly care what they drink. It's cheap and you get what you pay for. There are better and worse products out there.

Let’s face it! We all need a white rum for a “boat” drink, like a daquiri, and this is my first choice for such drinks. Tasting notes are inappropriate for a pure mixer, so let’s just say this rum is destined to enhance a mix of ingredients. To that end, well done!

My rum adventures started with this one right here. The most popular brand (in my country). I liked it then, but when you try some aged rums you quickly want to forget this one. It's ok for mixing but you can buy some better rums for the same amount of money. Ok for a white mixing rum, clean testen. 5/10
