Bacardi Superior rum

Bacardi Superior

Puerto Rico | Light | 40.0% ABV

Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

My favorite rum for mixing drinks, no added flavors or sugars. Makes tasting the fruits it’s mixed with more enjoyable.

At $15/handle I don't know what all this people expect to get. Cost $0.38 per shot making drinks very cheap, I can make a single mojito for $0.88, or two for $0.75 each. For that price this makes a excellent cheap drink. Works great in a mojito. This is a cheap mixing rum, not something made to be consumed straight.

For the price I rated this a 9 as it is a absolute must have for a collection. If i weighted the price lightly like I usually do I would give this a 7 as compared to other white rums, or a 6 if price was not factored in.

Price is weighed heavily in my rating of this. I paid $15 for a 1.75 liter bottle.

The first time I took a sip of Bacardi, neat, my ears went forward like a wolf whose heard an interesting sound. I thought: what is this? I must acquire knowledge of this thing!

It’s probably the best rum in the world. There are some good ones out there, and plenty not so good; but this is the standard to which all other rums must be held.

It’s too good to mix; you don’t age rum — you ruin it; and adding fruit flavours is not for purists who like things to taste like what they are — I wouldn’t smoke one of those little cigars flavoured with rum and red wine, after all.

If you’re mixing cocktails, don’t mix the top shelf (unless you’ve got millions in the bank) — you won’t get value. Respect the Bacardi Superior and have it neat or on the rocks — it’s a world class drink for a Summer’s day!

Bacardi supperior was my first ever rum i drank totally and exclusively straight, its what got me into drinking rums straight and the bacardi brand as a whole is my label its what i'll always turn to for "home"while not exploring more exotic labels, by far its agreed even by a fan as myself that this is in no way bacardi's best efforts....i rated this rum an 8 because it has sedimental value as i bought me and my friends a pint for each of us one night at a party, at first with the intention of mixing....when i gave them theirs my one friend said "are we gonna mix or do this like men?"....we all stopped and said "men" we then opened them up tapped our pints together in cheers and drank up, by the end of the night we were all three sheets to the wind, rum bottles empty, happy and having fun,....and my world of drinking rum forever more mixing for me

I have had the pleasure to consume this at the Villa of the Caribbean Regional Sales Manager for all the Ron Bacardi Products in Puerto Rico in 1967 and have consumed it the day after its production which gives it a very crisp fresh taste.

Don't expect to drink this straight, I find it is best in cocktails like the mojito and other citrus based drinks. Keep the Coke with the goldrum
