Trinidad and Tobago | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (5+) Distilled
Zaya Gran Reserva Rum is a blend of molasses-based rums distilled in a five-column still and aged in white oak barrels for up to 12 years.
Zaya rum was initially distilled by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala in Guatemala. The brand was acquired in 2008 by Infinium Spirits and is now produced in Trinidad and distilled by Angostura.

Line this up next to rums that are two to three times the price, do a blind pour, and have people you respect rank them. The Zaya will be in the running every time. I did this with Ron Zacapa XO, Appleton Estate 21, and Ron Abuelo Centuria. People picked Zaya in their top two and three. It never beat the Abuelo. The taste along with the price, elevates the rating for me.
I like the taste of vanilla, caramel and others. A good rum but with some artificial tone.
If you want an alcoholic version of Vanilla Coke, try this one.
Amazing vanilla on the nose. Smooth going down but not very complex.
Finished the list with an old classic. Easy to find, cheap, but wonderful.

Can't believe how cheap!!!! I'd pay twice as much. Sweet, smooth, and thick out of the freezer. Good on it's own or with a little rum cream
