As a Bourbon drinker, this is an instant favorite. A little dryer, oakier, than some of my other rums, but 21 years old at a great price point.
Maybe I love it so much, because I can’t buy it in Michigan, USA. Smooth to drink, great complex flavor, perfect amount of sweetness. I save this for special occasions.
This is my go-to 99% of the time. You can’t beat it for the price. Smooth and semi-sweet
Sad to have to give it up at TSA yesterday as it was opened and enjoyed previously>
The weight of the bottle matches the quality of sweet aged notes. Solara is mentioned no where?
A blend of rums from Panama prepared by the famous Master Ronero "Don Pancho" Fernandez. The blend was aged in oak bourbon barrels for 21 years and diluted to 40% ABV at bottling.
Bottle: Narrow and long, delivered bare or in a carton
Colour: Dark Amber
Nose: Strong, penetrating and pleasant. I smelled vanilla, caramel, candied apricots, raisins, clove, ripe banana and a little oak, but not very intense.
Mouth: Lightly sweet with hints of oak (the longer ageing was noticeable here), caramel and vanilla. Also dried fruits (apricots, pineapple) and spices (cloves and pepper) have been rocognized.
Aftertaste: Medium-long
Conclusion: An excellent rum with a pleasant fruity and vanilla sweetness as well as a subtle woodiness. Surely recommended.

This is an excellent, top-shelf rum! Excellent for sipping neat or mixed if you need to mix.
Good rum, enjoyable. One I always keep on hand in the cabinet. Probably my favorite.
Picked this one up not knowing much about it and really like it. Have been drinking it neat and as a choice for a rum old fashioned.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A masterful Panamanian, but the gold standard of the Cuban style to me

*December 2020 Update* So this has, without question, become one of my favorite rums. There is no rum I would rather sip by the fireplace on a cold day. Its flavors are bold and complex yet also harmonic and inviting. It is to my tastes absolutely masterful. Next to Foursquare 2007, this is probably tied for my single favorite rum of all.
Original review:
Given the flavor profiles I was afraid I wasn’t going to like this rum as much as others. Given the rating though I felt like I had to try it...and I am so glad I did. This is an extraordinarily smooth and pleasant rum to be savored slowly. Some say it has a burn to it, but I would say it is more like a fireside warmth. It’s like molasses, oak, maple syrup, and fine tobacco next to a crackling fire. It leaves a marvelous after-essence of hickory nut. This is absolutely becoming a mainstay in my cabinet. I am impressed.
2 weeks after popping the cork on this bottle I still can’t get it’s beautifully complex mix of flavors out of my head. That being the case I think I have to bump this up to a full 10. This rum is a master piece to be savored slowly on every sip.
