Frutas, especias, barrica y mucha barrica. Bien hecho como Ron y bien añejado en Bourbon.
I’m working through my second bottle. A very smooth sipper that gets better as a cube of ice slowly melts.
The life of "Covid Isolationism" has brought me to the WORLD of RUM. I had this rum delivered and it did not disappoint. Zafra 21 presents to the nose at first pour with wafts of complexity married with a rising wave of alcohol dryness. As it mellows in the glass so does the alcohol vapors strength. Now we have carmel, vanilla and sandlewood. The bourbon casks are also present. In the mouth it starts with a sold hit of its proof and imparts so many subtle tastes like a symphony. This rum is not overly sweet. It finishes with a slight burn and cherry, carmel and other notes keep on coming. The color of the rum is a light golden auburn. When swirled in the glass it presents such beautiful legs. VERY SEX-Z-(afra). I'm not alone anymore.
After a glowing review here, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Quite smooth and somewhat complex, however I noticed a heavier burn on the aftertaste.
I've been enjoying this rum. Kind of like Santa Teresa but with more oak and the dryness the wood brings. Very smooth, without relying on sweetness. The heat of the alcohol lingers and so I find myself enjoying it more with an ice cube.
Great sipper, smooth. This was good transition run from bourbon, given the oakiness.
I would recommend this rum to just about everybody. This is, of course, both a good and bad thing. It's incredibly well made but it has no character. It's just a bloody well made rum!
Good stuff, a little fire on the front side when drinking it neat, tobacco, leather and dried fruits, lots of esters, tossed in a couple rocks and it mellowed nicely. Good high end rum well worth drinking.
I liked sipping on this one. A great combo of sweetness and barrel flavor. Not bad at all if you can find it for $40.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
