Creamy and woody notes. Fruity aroma of orange peel, honey and sweet spices.
On the first sip, toffee with bitter sweet flavor. It's then linger with nutty and creamy flavor.
Creamy finishing, with hint of citrus and sweetness of maple syrup.

too young in comparison with similar El Dorado 12y. Harsher, not so round and balanced, I didn´t like so much.

A lot af alcohol on the nose that doesn't lay down in 15 minutes. Some wood and greased leather are there too and a hint of undefined dried fruits. On the palate the wood tastes more like cedar than oak, though the tannines are clearly oak, and some spices and herbs occur. More sweetened than I like but not so much that it becomes a liquid bonbon. Though just 40% the alcohol stayes prominently present the whole time.

When a sweetened rum gets a 6 in my book I like them quite a lot....

Not much to say about Demerara rum that haven´t already been said. It is something that somewhat divides rum lovers and they can be both fantastic and downright boring. This is sadly leaning towards the latter.

Nose: Coconut, oak, caramel, molasses and cinnamon
Taste: Vanilla, honey, raisins, caramel and a hint of passionfruit with a long smooth aftertaste
Overall: This is for the most part your standard rum from Guyana, but it does have some positives. The taste is a little bit more nuanced and the aftertaste is nice and lingers for longer than average. Would be nice as an easy sipper.

Wooden medicine and herbs. Silky feeling while drinking. Some light vanilla somewhere in the back.

Not well-balanced. Too much alcohol does not allow to identify other flavors.

(15. December 2019 i 1423)

Very light on nose, taste is rounded and medium long.

Surprised to see what other people say about this one, because I really had some trouble finding any taste at all. Maybe I had a bad sample?
Nose: pretty shy, some herbs and some oak maybe
Palate: the taste plays hide and seek With me - I had no success and did not find much taste. Watery, thin, light. Surprising for this age.

Nothing interesting, dry wooden tannin taste of aged alcoholic beverage.

Sehr charaktervoller Rum.

I'm a big fan of Guyanese rums (though this also has rum from other islands like Trinidad mixed in) even though I wish they didn't add so much sugar to them and let them stand on their own. I feel this one though sweet isn't as sweet as the El Dorado rums in the same age range. It's very smooth with tastes of raisin and dried fruit though it also has an "oaky" aftertaste. Overall I would use this one again as a sipper or mixer.

Nicely sweet on the nose with hints of vanilla, molasses and fruit. In mouth you can feel a lot of alcohol to my taste bud it is not that dramatic. You can find another flavours like honey, fruit, sugar cane and spice. Definetively not bad but it could be more balanced with less alcohol burn.

Anglický suchý styl rumu. Krásně voní, ale chuť je nezajímavá, plochá.

Reminiscent of the El Dorado family of rums. It has a dark amber appearance, sweet caramel dominated aroma. The taste is sweet, smooth, caramel, honey, molasses and a slight oak barrel aftertaste. It's easily sipped and easy to like, especially at that price (UK). The sweet taste might put some off though.

A fairly priced 10 year old rum, but not my favourite brand of demerara rum. Good, but it's no El Dorado.

It has a woody smell, left it to sit for a while but still has some burn.

Good rum, with spicy flavors, good balance between sweet and alcohol.

I was just getting serious about rum. When I got the gift I didn't know this was from Guyana. El Dorado was my favorite. It took a couple of years to open the bottle. What can I say, it was worth the wait. A typical sweet and smokey Guyanian rum. I've had it straight and mixed and in cocktails. And will again!

XM Royal Gold 10 year comes from Guyana, same distillery as the El Dorado rum family. XM Royal Gold 10y has a very nice dark rum color, but the smell and taste has too much alcohol into it to make it anything more pleasant than 3. Otherwise better to stick with El Dorado 12 year old rum.

A well-crafted Demerara rum.
Beautiful golden amber in the glass.
In the nose very powerful and strong, fragrances of wood, leather, vanilla.
On the palate also very strong, aromas of burnt caramel, fruits combined with delicate wood notes.
Slightly sweet and very tasty.
In the long finish first some sharpness then vanilla pastry with fruit salad.
A joy to drink.
