I walked into a rarely visited liquor store yesterday hoping to find Whaler's Coconut Rum. All they had on the flavored side was this one and the Vanilla Rum. Choosing this one was a no brainer. It is supposedly made from real pineapple, but it sure tastes mildly of chemicals. It is not bad, but certainly not among the best rums that I have tried. At only 24% ABV, I would easily choose Don Q Pina for it's higher ABV percent.

To give you an idea on how strong the taste of this rum is, it took only one part of this rum to 5 parts of an acceptable budget coconut rum to make a decent drink. I started out with a 50/50 mixture, but this rum overwhelmed the results.

If you do wind up with a bottle of this stuff, use the age old Caribbean recipe for a daiquiri. This is one of sour, two of sweet; three of strong, four of weak. In my case it was 1 part lime juice, 2 parts orange curacao, 3 parts Whalers Pineapple Paradise, and 4 parts (or more) of ice.

Enjoyed some Whaler's Pineapple Paradise rum during the Holidays. Bottle and label design are just okay, nothing to write home about. Pineapple is strong and prevalent to both nose and palate almost to the level of being soapy. No burn since its so sweet and high on sugar content. Definitely better than your run of the mill flavored rum, but not by a large margin.
