Great sugar cane juice rum. Pungent and sharp. Smells of vanilla, butterscotch an dried fruits with hint of cinnamon. Tastes of caramel apple, toasted marshmallow and maple syrup.
This is a good rum, the taste is real smooth and round.
Very developed flavors and quality that surprised me. I don't drink it regularly, but I wouldn't turn it down. I bought it for the bottle, but was pleasantly surprised by the contents!
This rum is very smooth and gentle to the drinker.
Very easy to enjoy without requirering the palette of a connoisseur.
Lacks a bit of complexity.
This rum is a solid choice. It´s not very complex and the nose has just a little too much alcohol imo.
That being said, it's pretty smooth still.
Overall I would probably buy this again.
Edit: This rum grows on me. I like it better and better and has changed my rating to an 8. I just can't explain excactly why.
It has earned a permanent place in my collection.
Excellent sipping rum with sweet taste that extends beyond your first sip. Very smooth. A top rating for VXOP and top on my shelf.
Smooth with great aftertaste. Definitely one of favorites.
Great rum. The taste has some notes of honey and caramel. I thought the sweet taste was subtle (which I really like). It is well balanced and very very smooth. Nice bottle. This is a great rum for me. A solid 8/10.
Well balanced aged offering from DR. Price point where it should be but there are better values out there.
Endnu et pletskud fra Oliver & Oliver. Dejlig duft og smag. Lad den stå i 20 min. i glasset og den bliver endnu bedre.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Personally speaking I cannot give any rum a 10 because I do not believe a perfect rum exists. The late great Vince Lombardi once said, "Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good." Vizcaya VXOP is the very embodiment of that. It has caught excellence in a bottle. I normally drink rum in Coke Zero but this tastes so freakin' good that I cannot bring myself to use it in such a manner. I would be a crime to do so IMHO. I can honestly say that this is going to be my first, and thus far only, sipping-only rum. Everything about this rum (other than the bottle) screams excellence (the bottle could and should have been more ornate for such a spectacular rum). The flavor is wonderful with just a wonderful balance of sweetness and oakiness (is there such a word a "oakiness"? If not, there ought to be one). It causes a burn in the back of the throat but not a "kick-you-in-the-throat" kind of burn one gets from cheap liquor nor the harsh burn from lesser quality rums but a silky/satiny burn that slides into place only to slide away just to entice you to take another sip. If you have to buy one bottle and only one bottle of rum, at this time, this would be the one I would recommend. I reserve the right to change my mind or add to the list. [NOTE: Yes, I do realize that sugar was added to this rum. I still like it.]
