Okay, I may have to test this one again because I have a cold and my palate my be a little off. However, what I’m getting matches most of the other reviews perfectly. It’s incredibly smooth. You could give this to a beginner as a sipper and it would not overpower them. On the other hand, you could mix it and not lose anything that makes it unique. The characteristic that comes out most is a spice that is kind of like cinnamon (although it’s not). It gives it a burn (not an unpleasant alcohol burn) just a little tingle - like a good tequila or bourbon yet it’s sweet enough that there is no doubt that you are drinking rum. I could easily give this an 8 but there are other rums that I’ve given an 8 that have more bold and complex tastes. Yet if somebody gave me a bottle of Vizcaya VXOP 21 as a gift, I would be very pleased. BTW, the bottle is a beautiful presentation that looks more like a great cognac or bourbon than rum - but again - this is sweet enough to be rum. It’s not overly sweet but if you’re looking for exceptionally dry, you may not like this as much.

Don’t get too excited Vizcaya’s “Cuban Formula” rum is actually made in the Dominican Republic. Is not 21 years and if you mixed is not a sin, but yes can be sipped as well. Not my favorite rum.

Vizcaya VXOP.
The bottle:Bit rounded perfume bottle.
Glass: Light amber color. In the beginning a robust alcoholic smell but after venting in 15-20 minutes, a vanilla scent pops up.
Mouth: Here, it is very strange. Without aeration tastes much milder than aerated therefore contrary to the fragrance. The taste tighten vanilla direction a little boisterous than usual Dominican rum. It may come from the Cuban formula that is mentioned on the bottle.
Aftertaste: Butterscotch, vanilla
Summary: The thing is that I puffed on a Don Tomas cigar during the test, but I do not know how much it has affected. I like this rum it has character

I find myself going back and have a second glass every time I have a drink. Sweet but not to sweet with none of that after burn.

If your looking for the absolute rum, this is it, exspensive but we'll worth it an absolute great rum, would be a crime to mix

One of the smoothest, easiest to drink alcoholic beverages you will find.

A nice simple tasting smooth rum. Good stuff but I would rather buy the vizcaya 12 cask for half the price.

I find myself mixing coke into this one more often than not... It is definitely a great rum, but it lacks flavor, body and punch.
