Admiral Nelson’s Premium Spiced rum is 35% ABV / 70 proof. Not wicked strong. $20 for a plastic 1.75 Liter bottle. It’s nice enough and smooth, light and sweet, and might be compared to Capt. Morgan Original Spiced rum, which has a sugary chocolate flavor. Adm Nelson is for mixing. “Lady Bligh spiced” is better neat because of its lighter balance of hot flavors and less sugar heaviness.
Can’t beat around the bush on this one, the Admiral is a cheap budget rum that has the look of a generic captain Morgan. That doesn’t make this a bad rum, I would actually put it in, or very close to, the same category as Captain Morgan, which is to say it isn’t great but neither is it terrible. Vanilla is very dominant in aroma and taste, sweet, not super smooth but goes down without too harsh an aftertaste. Definitely a mixer, I personally wouldn’t recommend drinking it neat. Half gallon usually runs between $15 and $20. Would be a good choice for a party or get together you wanted to keep on the cheap.
Honestly, not the worst rum around. Easy to drink, hard to taste, one step below Captain, hence the name. If you have a whole bunch of people and they all want "rum and cokes" or just want to let loose, buy it.
My standard go to mixer that I love to love. All the snob haters that tell you "Captain is better" are disgusted by the presence of this bottle. The funny thing is, they actually think Captain is good rum and have never sipped on anything unspiced.
Admiral Nelson is a cheap bottle of spiced rum. Nothing more than a bar's well rum. Quite harsh on it's own with an alright flavor. Needs to be mixed and diluted before the flavor of the rum comes through.
Actually, it's the best cheap liquor I've ever tasted and it's an outstanding value. Even here in the control state of Ohio where prices tend to be high, this is very affordable and not a bad rum. If rating quality for price, I'd give this a 10. To my taste it's rather bland with nothing distinctive about it. I tasted it along side another mild rum, Sailor Jerry, and this is even milder. I'd recommend this to anyone who's on a budget but wants a decent rum with just a hint of spice and mostly vanilla at that.
Great your open bar party with a lot of guests. not only because of the price but because of the flavor too. Again only a mixer.

Appearance: light yellow
Aroma: vanilla and fake vanilla
Flavor: vanilla air freshener, vanilla deodorant, vanilla everything. There might be some caramel here.
This rum is unobtrusive and inoffensive. It is not excellent, but of the lil nipper bottle rums I've tried this is one of the better ones.
For sure this would go well with Dr Pepper or Cola on ice.
