Pagan Idol

Pagan Idol takes a different twist on tiki from other bars in the Bay Area. Instead of having hundreds of rums and a binder of mixed drinks that you need to be in good shape to lift, they focus on a slim menu of modern riffs on classic tiki drinks (they'll also make you pretty much any honest-to-goodness classic if you ask them to). While I prefer the classics, it's a nice change of pace if you're looking for the tiki experience but with a more modern collection of libations. The decor ain't half bad, either. The front room is reminiscent of a ship's hold, complete with portholes with fish videos running in an endless loop behind them. The back room is darker and smokier, with plenty of statues and nooks to hang out with your buddies in.
